So apparently “contagious” is a good word. For this week i’m posting a video i watched today from the TED conference in India. This is a program that this person started to help kids take charge and strive to make a difference. my favorite quote was from the simple task they gave to the children of India. “Take one idea … Choose one week, Change one billion lives.
This is one of my favorite videos on TED. I would not call myself a green person (nor am i from Mars), I also don’t set a tree on fire just to watch it burn. So my liking of this video is not on how to save the environment at any cost, but a practical alternative. This isn’t an alternative in theory, but one that is being implemented and tested. is it the best option? will it work? I don’t know. This was the first time i saw something about alternative fuels that seemed doable. If you have an opinion let it be known.
In case you haven’t heard of TED (Technology, Entertainment and Design) you are in for a treat. I have to warn you that ted.com can be highly addictive and put your farmville (or whatever those games are called) on hold. These are talks that are from the conferences that take place in many parts of the world which often feature people at the top of their field. The speakers have the platform for 5-20 minutes to present their findings, artistry and advancement of technology.
This is by far my favorite talk, but that doesn’t mean it’s down hill from here. Sir Ken Robinson shares his finding on how our educational institutions places emphasis on math and languages, while the arts suffer and are often forgotten, not appreciated and often discouraged. We are often educated out of our creativity, which also may lead to an inability to take risks. Enjoy.
